Joseph L. Kitto, Esq.

Joseph L. Kitto is the founder of The Kitto Law Firm, P.L.L.C.

He has served in interim positions with the Indian Health Service (IHS), Office of General Counsel and the Department of the Interior, Solicitor's Office for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). He worked for two Washington, DC law firms before beginning his own private practice. During this time, he has represented more than 40 Tribal Nations. Further, he has been retained to perform several independent contracts developing policy and procedures for the Indian Health Service. He has been invited to serve on several IHS grant selection committees.

He is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Before beginning his academic training, Joseph was a crew chief on a CH53-E helicopter in the United States Marine Corps. After completing his service, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma (OU). At OU he founded the fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma, and was an active member of both the student and University government. In graduate school he was hired as the Political Director for the Oklahoma Republican Party and served on many federal and state level campaigns. He has worked with Senator James Inhofe, Representatives Lucas, Watts and former Governor Frank Keating.

He attended Cornell Law School in upstate New York and is licensed to practice in Washington, DC and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a member of the DC Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the Creek Nation of Oklahoma.
